Brakpan weekend crime round-up: Motorcyclist hijacked at gunpoint
An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from September 11 to 13.
The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:
Friday – A home along Bertie Meyer Crescent in Minnebron was burgled of a laptop, jewellery, passports and other valuables.
Saturday – The rider of a black Kawasaki motorcycle was robbed of the bike by three hijackers at the corner of New Kleinfontein Road and Blyde Avenue in Leachville.
The incident took place at about 10:20, when the trio stepped into the road and blocked the rider’s path. He was threatened with a gun and pushed off the bike.
One of the men then drove off on the motorcycle. A hijacking case is under investigation.
- A Voortrekker Road business was broken into. A generator was vandalised, and its supply cable stolen.
Sunday – Copper pipes were stolen from a residence along Prince George Avenue. The theft caused flooding in the home.
- A white Ford Ranger was stolen from Mall@Carnival.
