
According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:
• Friday – A white Toyota Etios was stolen from an address along Hope Street.
* Two TVs were stolen during a break-in at a residence in Leeu Avenue, Leachville.
* The driver of a white Isuzu bakkie was robbed of his vehicle after agreeing to give two strangers a lift.
The incident took place around 09:00 after the victim was approached by the pair as he sat in traffic along Heidelberg Road (R23).
They asked if he would take them to Minnebron, to which he agreed and the men climbed into the bakkie.
As they drove past Dalpark Extension One, one of the men pointed a gun at the victim.
He was instructed to drive into a nearby veld, where they was a grey Toyota Corolla waiting.
A man alighted from this vehicle and the victim’s hands were tied with cables and his face was covered.
He was then driven to a secluded area and dropped off.
Brakpan police are investigating a case of hijacking.
• Saturday – A car parked at an address along Springs Road in Rand Collieries was broken into.
The right rear window was broken to gain access.
A cellphone, a laptop bag, a pair of spectacles, a wallet containing cash and bank cards, and a firearm magazine with several rounds were stolen.
• Sunday – A smash-and-grab was reported at the Van der Walt and Hendrik Potgieter roads intersection in Dalview at 20:50.
The female motorist was waiting at the traffic lights when the rear window of her car was smashed. A lone thief grabbed a bag from the vehicle and ran off. The bag contained clothes, the victim’s ID book and other belongings.
