Truck carrying paraffin hijacked

The driver was held captive for several hours.

The driver of a fuel truck was hijacked in Brakpan last Thursday evening after being pulled over by a man wearing a metro police uniform.

According to police information, the driver was instructed to stop along the R554 near Carnival City at around 17:40.

He was en route from Johannesburg to deliver paraffin in Brakpan. He had made two diesel deliveries in different areas earlier that day.

When the driver stopped, the officer asked for his licence and other documentation. He was then told to follow instructions and to cooperate.

The victim was taken to a white BMW and forced inside. He was driven a short distance where he was then instructed to get into a blue Ford Focus.

There were two men inside this vehicle. The victim’s hands were tied and he was blindfolded.

He was driven around for some time and his abductors parked the vehicle and held him captive for several hours.

He was then driven to an area near Alberton and released.

The victim was helped by a passerby and taken to a nearby police station where he reported the incident.
