Long grass no longer a hazard for motorists

Sherwood Gardens residents held a clean-up along Craven Street over the weekend.

Overgrown grass along the roadside on Craven Street outside Huntingdon in Sherwood Gardens spurred residents into action over the weekend.

Concerned that the unkempt conditions pose a threat to motorists as their view is obscured by long grass when exiting from Huntingdon Avenue onto the busy thoroughfare, members of the community rallied together for a clean-up on Sunday.

The grass had made it difficult for motorists to see oncoming traffic, since it had not been cut or maintained for some time.

The clean-up was arranged by Cliff Jacobs and Shaun Klinkenberg.

It took several hours for all the grass and rubbish that had accumulated on the roadside to be gathered and disposed of.

The organisers thanked all the community members who participated.
