Muriel Brand athletes rake in the medals
One of the school's athletes smashed a record last set in 2018.
Fifteen athletes representing Muriel Brand School participated in the Prestige Finals LD Athletics at the Germiston Stadium on March 5. They competed against athletes from 17 schools from Gauteng, Pretoria and Hartbeespoort.
Despite the intense competition, the athletes excelled and earned three gold medals, 10 silver medals and four bronze medals. Athlete Shivanka Theron broke a discus record last set in 2018.
Theron (senior Victrix Ludorum ) and Samukelo Kubheka (junior Victrix Ludorum) were also honoured as the top three Victrix Ludorum for senior and junior ladies, respectively.
All 15 athletes were awarded medals by the Gauteng Department of Schools Athletics, with gold medalists also receiving certificates.
Overall, the athletes have earned 76 medals since the start of LD Athletics this year. The school congratulated the athletes and coaches for this outstanding achievement.
