A car then drove up alongside him and the passenger showed the victim a card, allegedly a police ID, and told him they were the police.

The man then showed the victim a gun and told him to stop. He pulled over on the side of the road and the hijackers forced him into the back of the bakkie with the woman.

After about 15 minutes, they stopped and the hijackers handcuffed one of the victim’s hands. He was instructed to get into a car that was parked nearby.

The victim, however, made a run for it and managed to seek help at a petrol station and was taken to the Brakpan Police Station. There was no information about the woman’s whereabouts.

Saturday – Tyres and rims were stolen from a car parked along Joubert Street in Brenthurst.

• Three cars were stolen. A white Nissan NP200 was stolen from Queen Avenue, while a white Toyota Prada and a Toyota Hilux were stolen from Mann Street in Brenthurst.

• A case of attempted murder is under investigation after an e-hailing driver was assaulted and shot at after an altercation with the occupants of a white Volkswagen Amarok.

The victim was returning from a drop-off at around 19:20 and was driving along Ian Coetzee Road in Withok Estates when he was dazed by the bright lights of an approaching vehicle, the Amarok.

The victim put his ‘brights’ on and the driver of the Amarok stopped next to him and asked if he had a problem. There were two other occupants in the bakkie.

The driver then took out a gun and fired numerous shots at the victim. While he was not harmed during the shooting, his vehicle was hit at least a dozen times.

The trio then assaulted the victim and further damaged his vehicle by breaking a window. They then returned to the bakkie and drove off.
