Delivery motorcyclist hijacked at gunpoint

The victim was ambushed shortly after arriving to deliver the order.

A delivery motorcyclist was robbed of his motorbike by four hijackers in Anzac on December 12.

According to police information, the victim arrived at an address along Sports Way at about 15:40 to deliver the order.

There appeared to be no one at the residence and the victim attempted to phone the customer. While making the call, he was confronted by four men wearing balaclavas. He was threatened with a gun and searched.

The hijackers fled with his cellphone, R800 in cash, and his white Big Boy motorcycle. The combined value of the stolen items is R22 300.

A case of hijacking was registered at Brakpan SAPS. Food delivery motorcyclists have become a regular target for hijackers.

As recently reported by the Brakpan Herald, a food delivery motorcyclist was knocked off his bike along Main Reef Road by a man wielding a stick on November 30.

The victim was returning from a delivery at around 21:00 when he saw two men standing in the road.

The pair ran towards him as he approached and he stopped the bike to try and turn back. One of the men then hit the rider with a stick and he fell from the bike.

He fled from his attackers, who chased after him. They abandoned their efforts after failing to catch up with him, and took the motorbike.
