Two in cuffs for armed robbery of high school learner
The men have been linked to multiple cases.
Two wanted armed robbery suspects were arrested last Tuesday after they were spotted gambling in the streets.
The men were seen along Voortrekker Road and apprehended by Secure Tech Security personnel. Police were contacted and immediately responded, leading to the arrest of both.
Brakpan SAPS communications officer Constable Audrey Buthelezi told the Brakpan Herald the men, aged 28 and 30, robbed a local high school learner at gunpoint a few days prior to their arrest, after which a case was registered.
“Both men are known to police and among the community for terrorising school children when they walk home in the afternoons or to school in the morning,” she said.
A replica firearm, drugs, an axe and other items including a key to a Mercedes-Benz were found on them. The black Fiat used in the commission of the crime was also confiscated by police.

The two were detained at the Brakpan Police Station and charged with armed robbery, possession of drugs, and possession of an object resembling a firearm that was used in the commission of a crime.
The 30-year-old suspect was linked to a 2024 murder case by Brakpan SAPS detectives, and together they were linked to multiple criminal cases outside of Brakpan.
They remain in police custody.
Brakpan SAPS station commander Brigadier Johanna Ngoma commended law enforcers for their attentive and swift reaction, and encouraged teamwork for prime results.
