Brakpan hit by two house robberies in one day
Two Brakpan households fell victim to brazen intruders on Wednesday, one in the early hours and another in the evening.
An Escombe Avenue resident had a narrow escape after confronting two intruders in his home during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
According to police information, the man woke up at around 03:30 and saw a shadow in the passage. He got up to investigate and saw two men, one of whom was trying to open the door to another room in the house.
The man screamed at them, and one tried to attack him. The man ran to his bedroom and the pair fled from the house, escaping though a window.
The man followed them and the duo threatened to shoot him if he continued to pursue them. A bag containing a laptop and personal documents was stolen.

The man later found some of the documents in a nearby veld. The robbers gained entry to the house by breaking a window after removing the burglar bars.
Some palisade fencing was also damaged. In a separate incident on Wednesday evening, a Dalpark Ext 6 woman and her children were terrorised by three house robbers.
This incident took place at an address along Augrabies Avenue between 19:45 and 20:30. The robbers, who were wearing face masks, walked into the unlocked house and rounded up the family, forcing them into a bedroom.
The woman was tied up and the robbers started searching the house. They fled with cash, cellphones and tablets.
Both cases are under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.
