Brakpan SAPS support staff dig into team-building with garden makeover
The support services team spruced up the gardens behind their offices as part of a team-building initiative.
Brakpan SAPS support services staff swapped their desks for shovels recently, taking part in a garden clean-up to promote team spirit and camaraderie.
The initiative followed a station imbizo and was led by support services head Colonel Karlien Swanepoel and HR commander Colonel Hilton Henstock.
Together, the team rolled up their sleeves and got to work rejuvenating the gardens dedicated to the Vispol and support services units, located behind the station’s office block.

“The spirit of happiness and love was shared while you could hear sounds of garden tools shoveling soil. Members interacted with conversations and laughter, and they seemed to be enjoying the hard labor,” said Constable Audrey Buthelezi, Sector 1 manager and station communications officer.
The transformation took just minutes, but its impact went beyond the surface. Swanepoel emphasised that simple initiatives like these are vital in the workplace for fostering stronger employee relationships.
She also encouraged other departments to engage in similar activities that promote unity and enjoyment – without compromising productivity.
