Fly-Mu Festival delivers high-flying fun and heartfelt giving
With live bands, market stalls and more, the Brakpan Airfield came alive for the sixth Fly-Mu Festival.
After a gloomy Friday, skies cleared for a perfect Saturday as the much-anticipated Fly-Mu Festival took off in spectacular style at the Brakpan Airfield.
Blending aviation displays with live music, the event delivered an unforgettable day of fun, live entertainment and community spirit.
The event was a combination of aircraft, live music and custom and classic cars. With helicopter rides, market stalls, delicious food and refreshments, children’s entertainment and other attractions, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Fly-Mu, originally a combination of flying and music, is the brainchild of Fanie Bezuidenhout, who lost his life in an aeroplane crash in 2023.

As a Freemason and member of Edward H Croghan Lodge 247 of the Irish Constitution, Bezuidenhout combined his passion for aviation, music and charity to launch an event for the benefit of the girls of the Abraham Kriel House and many other needy charitable organisations.
The members of Edward H Croghan now continue Bezuidenhout’s legacy by presenting Fly-Mu, now in its sixth year. This year, they proudly supported Abraham Kriel Girls’ House in Brentwood Park, offering the girls and house parents a complimentary day of fun, food and unforgettable experiences.
The girls also received goodie bags and other gifts.
“We are honoured to assist the Abraham Kriel girls again and will be distributing additional clothing, food and toy donations to other selected organisations in need,” said Right Worshipful Brother Gerhard van Staden, the Worshipful Master of Edward H Croghan, Lodge 247 IC.
