Green fingers at SAPS offices keep garden going

The team, led by Colonel Karlien Swanepoel, continued their efforts from June.

In June, Brakpan SAPS support services staff swapped their desks for shovels in a team-building effort to clean up the gardens of the police station. (Brakpan SAPS support staff dig into team-building with garden makeover. June 12)

Now they have continued their efforts with another team-building exercise in the gardens.

“The female-led component had its female members at the forefront of the initiative, and was led by support head Colonel Karlien Swanepoel,” said Constable Audrey Buthelezi, Brakpan SAPS communications officer.

“The women demonstrated their taking charge when they covered their manicures with heavy-duty gloves and tied up their hair to dig, prune, cut and weed,” she continues.

The enthusiastic team was all smiles, and conversations of encouragement were going on during the cleaning. The gardens were cleaned and refreshed in no time.

Karlien indicated that the team building was also a commemoration of the National Women’s Month, and encouraged women in the support component to stand tall and take charge.
