Applications for Gauteng NPO funding go online August 18
Gauteng MEC for Social Development Faith Mazibuko announced that NPOs can apply for funding through the new Grantor online system, aimed at improving transparency and efficiency.
The Gauteng MEC for Social Development, Faith Mazibuko, announced that applications for NPO funding will open from August 18 to September 30 through the department’s new online system. Mazibuko confirmed this at a recent awareness workshop at the Mary Moodley Child and Youth Care Centre (CYCC).
The Gauteng Department of Social Development is transitioning from traditional paper-based submissions to an online system to improve transparency, accessibility and efficiency in the funding process.
The new system, known as Grantor, will handle funding applications, process payments, and manage submissions of business plans and service-level agreements.
The platform will process all funding applications and related documents. Mazibuko stated that the department would provide ongoing training to ensure NPOs can use the system effectively.

“Our emphasis is that you must register your organisation and ensure your business plan is clear. If you’re working with children, your staff must be vetted.
“Those running skills training centres must have an exit strategy so that trained individuals can access job opportunities, rather than sitting at home unemployed.”
She urged organisations to ensure all required documents are in order before the deadline.
“Make sure your certificates are not expired. We are engaging with the SAPS to fast-track police clearance applications, particularly for organisations working with children and the elderly, as delays in receiving these certificates remain a challenge,” Mazibuko added.
