N17 highway death: Police urge public to assist in identifying victim

Brakpan SAPS is seeking witnesses after a man with bruises and a gunshot wound was discovered on the N17. The victim later died, and police are still trying to confirm his identity.

Brakpan police are appealing to the public for information after an unidentified man was found seriously injured on the N17 east-bound highway near Dalpark in the early hours of November 13.

As reported in the Brakpan Herald’s November 21 edition, local police are investigating a case of murder in connection with the incident.

They are now urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation to come forward.

According to Brakpan SAPS Sector 1 manager and communications officer Constable Audrey Buthelezi, the man was discovered at around 00:30 with multiple bruises on his body and a gunshot wound to one of his arms.

He was admitted to the Far East Rand Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 19:10 the same day.

The deceased has not yet been identified.
