Cash and jewellery stolen in armed robbery at Kitzinger Avenue store

Armed men confronted the owners and fled with cash, jewellery, and personal items.

Husband-and-wife business owners were threatened at gunpoint during a robbery at their Kitzinger Avenue store on January 26.

According to police information, the husband and wife were inside the premises when they were confronted by two gunmen at around 13:50.

One of the men forced the husband to the storeroom, while the other approached the wife at the counter. He told her they were being robbed, and instructed her to comply.

The robber took cash from the till after ordering the wife to open it.

She was also robbed of her jewellery and handbag, which contained a driver’s licence, bank cards, some money, an ID, and a cellphone.

The wife was then taken to the storeroom where her husband was being held, and the robbers fled. Brakpan police are investigating a case of business robbery.
