Village of Hope combines meals and mentorship to support children in need

Village of Hope served hot meals and shared God’s word with children in the Mgongo informal settlement earlier this month.

Brakpan-based non-profit organisation Village of Hope continues to support underprivileged communities, particularly children, by regularly holding feeding outreach programmes in local informal settlements.

Earlier this month, the NPO’s team visited the Mgongo informal settlement, where beneficiaries were treated to a nutritious hot meal and a sweet treat.

The outreach also included a session led by pastor Jimmy Moyambo, who shared the word of God and prayed for the children.

“It is beautiful to see the little ones being taught about God. We also encourage them to do well at school, because education opens doors, and to respect elders at home and at school,” said Village of Hope founder Tumie Masolane.

Masolane added that the NPO’s back-to-school campaign is still ongoing.

“We are asking for assistance from companies, organisations, and individuals to help us ensure these children are presentable at school,” she said.

Masolane extended gratitude to Moyambo for opening his home to Village of Hope, as well as to Mama Mpumi Ndaba and Georginah Matla for providing food.

She also also thanked Pick n Pay Mall@Carnival, which has assisted with food donations since February last year, the Mgongo CPF, and NPO team members Tlhokomelo Masolane and Ntsoaki Sindane.
