A 23-year-old man was arrested last Tuesday afternoon for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The man was nabbed after police received a tip-off from a community member.
Officers drove around in search of the offender and spotted a man matching his description along Wenden Avenue.
A search of the man yielded a 9mm pistol and two rounds of ammunition.
The man did not have a licence for the weapon which, along with the ammunition, was seized.
He was detained at the Brakpan Police Station.
The success was the result of teamwork involving the Ekurhuleni District Trio Operational Task Team, Secure Tech and Father and Son Towing.
