Voters brave cold wind to check registration status
Some voters found the process of checking registration status every election to be tedious, while others found it to be an important learning opportunity for the youth.
Voters trickled into voting stations over the weekend during the final days of voter registration, braving icy winds and cloudy conditions to register to vote or check their registration status.
The IEC reported that more than 330 000 registration applications had been processed by noon on June 21, but local turnout appeared to be hampered by severe cold weather.
The IEC noted that 30 000 applications were registered on the online portal, indicating that some voters utilised the avenues available to them.
In Brakpan, Gregory Jacobs and Chantell Els visited Laerskool Dalview on Saturday to register, and Jacobs highlighted that checking registration status for every election is a tedious process.

On the other hand, grandfather Johan Naude took his granddaughters, Vonique and Noulané Naude, to the voting station to teach them about registering to vote and how important it is.
Toy Coetzee merely came in to update his address, as his old address still appeared in the system.
Local elections will take place on November 4, during which registered voters can exercise their constitutional right to democratically elect leaders to local office.
