Don’t destroy our beautiful world

CM Jansen van Vuuren from Brakpan writes: I am always fascinated by the skies, clouds, lightning and nature.

Most of my photos are of the above, animals and children.

There are so many things that fascinated different people in more ways than one.

The night skies are absolutely awesome at sunset and I can never resist taking a photo.

If the horizon is clear of clouds, smog and dust, I can see Johannesburg’s buildings and the Hillbrow and Brixton Towers.

It is also fascinating because not one sunset with the clouds and colours is ever the same.

As a child, we use to lie on the grass and look at the clouds, and my sister and I used to seen an animal or human figure.

Funnily, we never imagined the same cloud in the same way — each had her own picture looking at the same cloud.

At night we used to look at the stars and those days, the skies were very much clearer than these days with all the smoke and dirt up there now.

We saw many falling stars, comets and later Sputnik and other satellites.

Our world and country is so beautiful and the humans are wrecking and destroying it all by the rubbish they throw away.

Plants and animals are being mutilated, killed and neglected.

Can we not think before we litter and spoil our land and towns that are there for future generations?

It infuriates me when I see people and their children throwing paper and tins and cigarette ends out of their car windows, or when walking in the streets.

I have seen people throw things next to the dustbin.

Some won’t even walk a couple of steps to a dustbin to rid themselves of their own rubbish.

I am sorry to say this, but if they behave in this manner in the streets, what do they do at home?

Think before you litter — don’t dump it, bin it.

It will make you feel good, even if you do not think so at the time.
