We have been calling the customer service line for more that two weeks, but have not come through to any consultant.
When visiting the municipal building you are greeted by people who are not interested in what you have to say to them.
When reporting the issues on the website they send you a reference number, but no one comes out to inspect what the cause of the problem is.
The power box in the street is not locked, so people living in the affected area are just simply opening up the box and switching the power back on by hand, without knowing what is causing the circuit breaker to trip.
There is a huge amount of power flowing through those power boxes and they are left open for anyone to tamper with.
If the power is being put on by hand every time it trips, eventually something has to give and then there is going to be a serious injury or death to the person standing in front of the box.
Residents in the area have already lost money due to fridges and freezers not being able to work.
I am sure that we are not the only residents having some issues regarding the power supply and will not be the last, as the service delivery of Ekurhuleni is poor.
Editor’s note: Comment was requested from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality and the following response was received from spokesperson Themba Gadebe: “We will investigate and ensure that the enclosure is properly closed.”
