Drug dealers a threat to children
I am writing this letter out of concern for my own neighbourhood, and other residents of Brakpan who make use of the streets close to the corner of High Road and Northdene Avenue.

Very young children walk along these two roads to two different primary schools.
Parents should know that there are drugs freely available in this area, and persons selling these substances would not care to sell to young children or employ them to sell such substances in our schools.
As a community we can choose to acknowledge these type of risks and ensure we keep our youth safe! Or ignore them until the day of our children are harmed or even killed.
The open unoccupied, unmaintained area is a haven for criminal activities and has, in recent weeks, been used by homeless people to sleep and stay in.
It is also apparent that it’s being used as a dumping site.
Soon we might see shacks at this very location.
If the area is maintained properly, and fenced off, we may prevent the aforementioned from occurring.
I would like to appeal to the authorities to step in and assist with the cleaning up of this area, and also to enhance operations with EMPD/SAPS, as visibility and pro-activeness will surely make a difference in all our lives, but more importantly in the lives of our young children in the neighbourhood.
