Resident not happy with service from Brakpan SAPS

''Resident'' writes by email:

During the early hours of Tuesday morning (June 2), at about 2.40am, two males broke open our gate and attempted to steal a very expensive motorcycle.

We caught them in the road and they then left the stolen goods and managed to get away.

We called the police station numerous times, from about 3am, and were told: “Police on the way”.

By 9am on Tuesday morning there was still no response.

Their service is pathetic, and something needs to be done.

Editor’s note: Comment was requested from the Brakpan Police and Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the station commander, responded as follows: “Residents with any complaints against the police are encouraged to come in to the station.

“We need to take an official statement and thereafter the incident can be investigated.

“Should there be any proof of negligence the necessary steps will be taken.”
