DFC keep marching on

Following a bye last weekend, Dalpark Football Club (DFC) were looking to get back into top form when they played Gibbs United, at William Hills Secondary School, on Saturday, February 8.

Gibbs United were on top of the Benoni South Local Football Association Division One table, but DFC were not going to be intimidated and put on a fantastic performance.

“The boys were just awesome in this game,” said coach Brian Fray.

“I told them before the game that we needed to keep the good momentum going and win this one by any means.

“They responded in brilliant fashion to win this game.”

The team started the game by attacking their opposition from the word go, and put Gibbs United under a lot of pressure, which paid dividends, as the opposition conceded an own goal to give DFC the lead.

This was followed by two more goals for the Brakpan-based team, which saw them take a 3-0 lead into the half-time break.

Not resting on their laurels, Fray’s team continued to attack at pace and scored a fourth goal, which ultimately ended the game as a contest.

Gibbs managed to find the net twice, soon afterwards, but DFC regrouped and scored the fifth goal, to seal the deal.

The team are now unbeaten in the league in their last nine games, and are looking to make a late charge on that number one position.

“It makes me very proud to coach a team who show so much determination and perform the way they do,” Fray added.

DFC’s goals came from Isack Tshabalala (three), Nkosinathi Nyathi (one) and an own goal.
