Cedric “The Dominator” Doyle, fighting under the banner of the Brakpan-based XKT Pro League, took on Matthew Buirski in a main card bantamweight bout.
After a week of intense training in both camps, the pair had everything to fight for.
Buirski added to the controversy of the fight by missing weight at weigh-in, causing Doyle to promise to take both his money (by purse deduction) and to hand Buirski a beating when they met.
When the two met in the hexagon it was Doyle who pressurised his opponent throughout, but he found it close on impossible to get inside Buirski’s significantly longer reach.
His reward came in the third round, however, when he broke through with a right hand that dropped Buirski, allowing him to swarm in with punches, and clinch a decision victory (by unanimous decision).
