Future stars of the greens and fairways

The development of young golfers is certainly on the rise in Brakpan, so do not be surprised if a future Masters champion emerges from these parts.

Royal Oak Country Club’s club professional and golf director, Kenneth Dube, is delighted that Impala Platinum (Implats) has, since the start of March, made a major investment in the growth of future champion golfers at the Kenneth Dube Golf Academy, which also helps underprivileged children from areas like KwaThema and Tsakane become competitive players.

Implats has also assisted with financial backing for 10 new junior players to join the club.

Dube, who manages the programme with the help of his apprentice John Woudberg, is thrilled with the support shown for junior golf at Royal Oak and said that all the children are really enjoying the learning experience and are honing their skills.

“The Academy is booming at the moment and, at the end of the day, it’s really all about the children and the development of talented young golfers from our area,” the club professional said.
