Weekend of high-speed action

With over 150 competitor entries and no less than 10 starters in each class, the racing will provide the ultimate adrenaline rush for any oval racing lover.

The Rock Raceway will be a hive of activity when the much-anticipated annual Speed Weekend takes place on the weekend of August 11 and 12.

Drivers from all over South Africa, including the hot rod world champion, Chris Haird from Suffolk England, will be taking to the Rock Raceway circuit as they all chase for the ultimate prize at victory lane.

With over 150 competitor entries and no less than 10 starters in each class, the racing will provide the ultimate adrenaline rush for any oval racing lover.

V8 and rotary engine fans will also be in for a treat when the high-powered chariots roar and scream around the venue.

This will be the fourth round of the National Hotrod Championships with a 25-car field starting on the grid that includes Haird.

A host of saloon classes and open-wheelers including rotary and V8 sprint cars will also do battle. They will all try to break the lap record in each category during the Friday qualifying session for the main event on Saturday.

Practice and qualifying for all classes will take place on Friday starting at 10am while qualifying starts at 5pm.

The gates will open at 9am on Saturday with open practice while the National Hotrods will do their qualifying at 2pm.

Racing will start at 3pm.
