Report stray racing pigeons
The Brakpan Racing Pigeon Club, affiliated to the Gauteng Pigeon Union (GPU) under the South African National Pigeon Organisation, held their annual general meeting on January 31.
Members are looking forward to a tough flight season where they will be competing against the best pigeon fanciers in the surrounding areas, covering the Ekurhuleni region and falling within the GPU district.
The members urge the public to be on the lookout for any stray racing pigeons.
Stray birds can be reported to the ring steward through the details that are printed on the pigeon’s registered leg ring.
“We welcome all interested pigeon fanciers,” said club chairman Frik Smith.
“Should they want to become a member of the club, they can contact me.”
Anyone interested in joining can contact Smith on 071 481 2438, vice-chairman Cyril Jasper on 083 327 4978 or ring steward Ken Pike on 011 740 3946.
“We wish everyone a great season this year, which starts in June and ends in October,” said Smith.
