Gorimbo favourite at EFC 82

Gorimbo boasts a 7-2 record.

Themba Gorimbo is determined to make history at EFC 82, at Carnival City on September 28.

He faces Luke Michael as he bids to become the first Zimbabwean to hold an EFC welterweight title.

“I will beat the best version of him and become a champion with a spectacular performance,” Gorimbo stated on his Twitter page.

Gorimbo boasts a 7-2 record and comes into the fight with a good submission record as he has made five of his opponents tap out.

The bout between Gorimbo and Michael for the vacant belt tops the bill.

Michael (4-3) will be the underdog but writing him off may not be the best idea. Like his opponent he too has a good submission game which could make their clash interesting.

He has forced his last two opponents Francois Cundari and Rodrique Kena to submit in the first round.

There has been a lot of talk around the welterweight division amongst fans ever since Dricus du Plessis vacated the title in February.Since then Michael beat Cundari and Gorimbo won a unanimous decision over Jose Da Rocha to earn a spot as a contender.

The co-main event on the night will see undefeated Quinton Rossouw face Simon Biyong in a match between two strikers with the former being a kickboxing expert and the Cameroonian a boxing specialist.

They will be fighting for the light heavyweight title.

Biyong comes into the fight after Gideon Drotschie was forced to pull out due to injury.

While Gorimbo and and Michael will be battling for welterweight supremacy, Pupanga Tresor and Conrad Seabi will square off as they look to solidify their place as contenders in the division.

Bantamweights Luthando Biko and Tumisang Madiba will take each other on.

Dino Bagattin and Pietie Coxen will fight in the other welterweight clash on the night to round off the main card at Carnival City.
