Rimmington comes close to winning

The local man qualified for the tournament for the sixth time.

Brakpan Mines Bowling Club’s Craig Rimmington came agonisingly close to beating Robert Paxton at the 2020 Professional Bowls Association World Indoor Tournament at Potters Resort in Norfolk, United Kingdom, recently.

Rimmington narrowly lost to Paxton, who went on to win the singles tournament.

“It was most thrilling to be part of an event of this nature, and to have come so close to winning. I would most definitely participate again, should I qualify,” Rimmington said.

The local man qualified for the tournament for the sixth time after putting on stellar performances in South Africa.

The Brakpan bowler also partnered with Matthew Head for the doubles tournament to represent South Africa.

That category was played as a round robin with South Africa drawing against New Zealand and Israel. They lost to Ireland.
