Youngster goes big time
Fokazi is targeting events such as the Big Easy Challenge and the Joburg Open as the ones he would like to play in.
“It’s the patience in golf. It’s like you as a single person controlling the environment around you, that’s my favourite part of golf,” said 19-year-old Bulelani Fokazi.
The youngster, who has been honing his skills at Kenneth Dube’s academy, is now ready for the next step of his career in the sport, turning professional.
“I’m quite happy that I can do what I love for a living,” he said.
“I look forward to playing around the country and representing the people that helped me get to where I am now.”
Joining the professional ranks is a big step in any sport.
“I feel like every time you get to certain level of your life there is some anxiety but then you learn to work around it in a professional and calm manner,” said Fokazi when asked if he was nervous about joining the paid ranks.

“I just want to be the best version of myself, especially around the golf course.”
Fokazi is targeting events such as the Big Easy Challenge and the Joburg Open as the ones he would like to play in.
As far as his amateur career goes, Fokazi has fond memories of the unpaid ranks.
“I enjoyed the Handicap League because there I met up with a diverse community of golfers that actually encourage you to play better golf,” he said.
So who are Fokazi’s favourite players?
“Bubba Watson and Tiger Woods. Watson shows an unconventional side to the game but he is actually quite a genius. There is a method behind that craziness of his,” he said with a smile.
