Brakpan Pool Club represented at nationals
Nationals took place in Potchefstroom this year, from June 13 to July 18, in five divisions.
Brakpan Pool Club was well represented at the Pool SA national championships in Potchefstroom this year, held between June 13 and July 18.
Ladies nationals took place between June 13 and 20; Masters and Grandmasters between June 20 and 27; seniors between June 27 and July 4; opens between July 4 and 11; and juniors between July 11 and 18.
At the ladies’ nationals, Louise Smit and Douwrencia Harmse represented the Eastern Gauteng Pool Association (EGPA) in the B-division, where their team reached the semi-finals before losing.
In the Masters tournament, Adriaan Fuhri played in the A1 division and in doubles, where he and partner Don Mayes reached the semi-finals.
Shawn Raper also played in the Masters tournament in the B-division, where his team came fourth overall but lost on frame count and wasn’t able to participate in the semi-finals.
Louise Smit was the A1 team referee, while Tania Smit was the Masters A1 team manager.
Kopano Semoko represented EGPA in the seniors tournament, while JP Britz played in the opens tournament.
Gert Britz from Brakpan refereed the Grand Masters tournament alongside JP. Gert is a Green Blazer referee, meaning he is nationally qualified.
Steve Bayman, who has been selected to referee at the world championship, was the senior control referee for the junior tournament.
