Pint-sized DJ spins the decks

This little dude has talent and the world is watching.

Five-year-old Oratilwe AJ Hlongwane, aka DJ Arch Jnr, will be hitting the decks at Carnival City’s Pocket Park to mark the start of spring, tomorrow (Saturday).

The pint-sized DJ will entertain young music fans from 1pm to 3pm.

There is no cost to enjoy the show.

DJ Arch Jnr is a Johannesburg-born talent who started showing a keen interest in music when he was just a few months old.

His father Glen Hlongwane purchased an iPad for him, which was intended for educational purposes.

Over time, his parents installed DJ’ing software for him so he could play around with it and have fun.

Very quickly, the youngster proved to have a deft hand for manipulating the tools in the app and before long, his ‘mixing’ skills were transferred to live equipment.

He became an instant social media sensation as he displayed his impressive DJ skills to audiences worldwide.

Expectations were exceeded when he entered SA’s Got Talent and won first prize.

Since then, DJ Arch Jnr has secured high-profile opportunities such as being the resident DJ for the McDonald’s u-14 Schools’ Soccer League; performing at the SAFTAs (South African Film Awards); AFRIMAs (All Africa Music Awards) in Nigeria, as well as on radio stations including Metro FM, Jacaranda FM, and Lesedi FM.

He has also appeared on television shows such as Craze Etv, SABC 3’s Morning Expresso show, Etv morning sunrise, ENCA news, BBC news and many more.

He attained well over 32 million views on his SA’s Got Talent YouTube video for winning the competition – it’s safe to says this little dude has talent and the world is watching.
