Strong contingent of athletes represent Brakpan at CGA league event
Brakpan athletes participated in the CGA League 5 cross country event in Kwa-Thema.
A strong contingent of athletes from the Unbroken Endurance Training Academy proudly represented Brakpan at the Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) League 5 cross-country event in Kwa-Thema on July 4.
“The course, well-known among athletes for its tight twists, sharp turns and technical demands, delivered a challenging and enjoyable racing experience,” said head coach Jared de Waal.
“Despite the difficulty of the route, the Unbroken Endurance athletes rose to the occasion with several standout performances across various age categories,” he said.
Cayde de Waal led the charge. He is in South Africa for his summer break from studying at Illinois State University in the USA.

He produced an impressive run to secure second place in the senior men’s 4km race, showcasing both his class and international experience.
Springs resident Avanke van Deventer made a remarkable debut in the junior age groups, finishing third in the U9 girls’ category in her first club cross-country race.
“This achievement highlights her promising future in the sport,” de Waal said.
Mikayla Mans also delivered a strong performance, finishing fourth in the U12 girls race.

The club celebrated a trio of fifth-place finishes across different divisions – Dian Barnard in the U23 4km race, Melany Mans fifth in the U14 girls category, and Megan-Ann Roberts in the U13 girls race.
De Waal expressed his pride in the athletes’ performances, noting the team’s continued growth and resilience throughout the cross-country season.
“The Unbroken Endurance Training Academy continues to build momentum as the season progresses, with athletes consistently delivering strong results while gaining valuable racing experience on some of Gauteng’s most demanding courses,” he concludes.
