Employee hijacked near N12

The employee was dropped off near Vlakplaas.

Hijackers targeted an employee of a Carletonville business on the P111 on April 8. The employee of Dunlop Belting drove his employer’s Toyota Hilux bakkie to South Deep Mine to deliver goods at about midday.

As he neared the N12, a white BMW and a silver Audi passed him.

Both suddenly stopped in front of him and blocked the road. Although the driver tried to reverse, a white Nissan Navara bakkie stopped behind him and boxed him in. Thugs jumped from all three vehicles and approached his bakkie. The armed hijacker from the Audi pointed his firearm at the driver.

“Unlock the door,” he ordered.

They forced the driver onto the back seat of his bakkie, and the thugs pulled his beanie over his face. When he tried to resist, they hit him on the head with the firearm and hit him on his body.

The hijackers drove around with him for some time before moving him from the bakkie to the Audi.

They later dropped him off, and when he asked passers-by where he was, the victim realised he was in Vlakplaas.
