A young man was shot in his stomach at a tavern last weekend.
The incident happened on Sunday, 19 May.
The victim’s mother was sitting in a vehicle near a tavern at the Elijah Barayi mega housing complex with her friends around 04:30. Suddenly, one of her son’s friends came to call her, saying someone had shot her son (22) at the tavern.
She ran to the scene and found her son lying on the ground. Three bystanders, one of whom was holding a rifle and the other two 9 mm pistols, pointed to another man on the ground.
Although the mother did not try to find out more before picking her son up and rushing him to Carletonville Hospital, it later emerged that the men with the firearms had started shooting randomly.
One of the bullets hit her son in his stomach.
The Carletonville police are investigating an attempted murder case.
