A young soccer star Shaun Els from Fochville from is doing amazing on the field as he will be representing Merafong on an international level. Merafong recently received a thrilling
announcement that Shaun has been selected to represent South Africa’s Under 17 National Team (Amajimbos) at the upcoming FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar. The star was recognised for his blossoming career by the Merafong City Local Municipality Executive Mayor Nozuko Best.

“We take immense pride in congratulating, a proud product of the Khutsong Sports Academy, which has nurtured his talent since the young age of 11 under the guidance of Hloni Majeje Kharejane,” She emphasized.

Shaun is currently a learner at Carleton Jones High School and plays for Kaizer Chiefs U19 and the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team under the mentorship of Coach David Mathebula (U19)
and Coach Vela Khumalo (DDC).

His journey is a shining example of what dedication, discipline, and community support can achieve as Shaun carries the hopes and pride of Fochville, and the entire Merafong City with him as he steps onto the global stage.
