Carleton Jones learner shines at FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar

The school says it is immensely proud of his achievement and bright future.

Carleton Jones High School and our town celebrated a moment of international pride as Grade 10 learner Shaun Els represented the nation as a Forward Player in the prestigious FIFA U17 World Cup in Doha, Qatar.

Shaun’s performance was instrumental to the national team, which competed against 48 qualifying nations starting on November 3. Though the team was ultimately eliminated before the final held tomorrow November 27, Shaun made a significant impact, scoring two of the three winning goals achieved against international competitors like Bolivia, Italy, Japan, and Qatar.

According to Carleton Jones’s spokesperson, Nanette Nieuwenhuizen, they are very proud of his achievements.

“The school celebrates with Shaun on this outstanding achievement, and we do not doubt that he has a bright future ahead of him! Congratulations, Shaun, on this amazing feat!”
