More than 150 illegal miners arrested in major police operation at Kloof Mine

Joint SAPS, SANDF and Sibanye-Stillwater operation targets illegal mining and transnational crime at Kloof mine.

Sibanye-Stillwater’s Kloof mine was the scene of a huge joint action to flush out illegal miners this week.

On July 7 members of the police, SANDF and Sibanye Protection Services conducted an operation against illegal miners in this area.

According to the SAPS, more than 150 suspects were arrested for offences related to illegal mining during the action, called Operation Prosper The SAPS said that the operation was aimed at combating illegal mining and transnational crime in the area.

Kloof mine has been one of the hotspots of illegal mining activities in our area for some time.
