People from Fochville are now even throwing their rubbish on farms outside the town.

Members of the Fochville CPF (Community Policing Forum) recently initiated an action against littering in the town.

They work together with authorities to try to stop slobs who throw their rubbish in the town. The CPF decided to take this step because some open yards, especially in the bottom part of Fochville, are being used as rubbish dumps.

Huge rats also scurry through these yards and into neighbours’ yards.

“We are drowning in our own litter,” remarked the Fochville CPF chairperson, Corna van Rensburg.

These people now get warnings or fines for their illegal dumping. Unfortunately, this has now caused some of these polluters to throw their rubbish outside the town.

According to Van Rensburg, they now drive 10km outside the town to dump their rubbish on farms, instead of taking their rubbish to the dump.

She says that rubbish was thrown on a farm next to Kraalkop Hotel, while some people also throw their rubbish next to the R500 just past the top entrance to Fochville.

Some of the rubbish is even dumped next to where cattle are grazing and can kill them if they eat the plastic.

The CPF called on the community to stop littering and on law-abiding citizens to report this.
