Blanket donations mark special disability Celebration in Khutsong

The organisation received blanket donations from local leaders and is now appealing for support for its disability sports day on 19 August.

A special celebration for people with disabilities took place at the Khutsong South Multipurpose Community Centre (MPCC) on Friday, July 17. The event was organised by the Kgatelopele Disability Forum.

The celebration was supported by the West Rand District Municipality’s Executive Mayor, Councillor Sello, who was joined by the Deputy Executive Mayor of the Merafong City Local Municipality, Mogomotsi Sello. Together, they donated 15 blankets to people with disabilities.

“We, as an organisation, greatly appreciate what they have done for us. We also thank Executive Mayor Nozuko Best for always assisting us by making the MPCC venue available,” members of the organisation said.

The Kgatelopele Disability Forum remains committed to advocating for the rights of people with disabilities and is appealing for support for its next event, a disability sports day, which will take place on 19 August. The programme will include indoor games at the MPCC and soccer matches at the sports field.

The organisation invites government departments, NGOs, businesses, schools, faith-based organisations, community leaders and members of the public to support the event.
