Driver hijacked and kidnapped on R501 near Carletonville
A 47-year-old man was abducted after armed hijackers forced his employer's Isuzu D-Max off the R501 before driving away with the vehicle and its cargo.
This week in the Carletonville area, a forty-seven-year-old man was hijacked and kidnapped while driving his employer’s white Isuzu D-Max on the R501 on July 30.
The bakkie, which had a stove, sound bar, and TV set on the back, was approached at 09:45 near the R509 turn-off when a silver VW Polo sped past and slammed on its brakes to force a stop.
Two unknown men got out demanding the driver’s licence.
As it was handed over, a third man approached, told the driver to be quiet, and pulled a beanie over his head.
The hijackers drove around with him for a while before leaving him on the side of the road, where passers-by helped him reach the Mohlakeng Police Station near Randfontein to report the crime.
At the time of going to print, the employer’s bakkie, with registration number MB14JNGO, remained missing. The police trio task team is investigating the case.
