An employee was hijacked while driving near Carletonville this week.

This crime took place on September 9.

The victim (33) was driving his employer’s Toyota Hilux near the R500 at about 09:50.

He turned onto the gravel road to Quantum Foods, but while driving on this road, a silver-gold VW Polo suddenly blocked the road in front of him.

Four men armed with rifles jumped out of the Polo. The driver tried to reverse but was blocked in by a white vehicle.

Another two thugs, also armed with rifles, jumped out of this vehicle. They grabbed the victim from the bakkie and pushed him into the Polo, where he was forced to lie on the floor. The thugs sped off with him, but later dropped him off in an unknown area. He managed to get help from bystanders to get to the nearest police station, which was in Randfontein.

The police are investigating a hijacking and kidnapping case.
