A soccer club from Carletonville is inviting other players from the area to a big event this week.

According to Sam Ndlovu of the OweSam United club in Carletonville the club will be holding a big trial at Carleton Jones High School on September 19 and 20.

A scout from France, Toufik Khirat, will visit the trials to check out the skills of local young players and may offer new opportunities to local stars. According to Ndlovu, the trial is part of a bigger quest to uplift young soccer players on the area.

“OweSam United was established with a clear vision to identify and develop children from a very young age and create a pathway towards professional football and ultimately the PSL. We want to develop young players technically, tactically, physically and mentally while teaching them discipline, respect, teamwork and responsibility. Our ambition is to build a strong youth development structure where a child can start at OweSam, progress through the age groups, gain competitive experience and exposure, and eventually earn opportunities with professional clubs. We are not only building football teams, we are building a pathway from grassroots football to the PSL. Our dream is to see young players from Carletonville and surrounding communities grow through OweSam and one day represent professional clubs and the highest level of South African football,” says Ndlovu.

Ndlovu is himself a former professional football players who went on the field for several clubs, which included SuperSport United, Maritzburg United, FC Cape Town/Ubuntu Cape Town, Winnerspark Pietersburg and Magesi FC.

Registration for the trials end on September 17.
