Khutsong entrepreneur determined to make a difference

She is now also an event manager.

Dimpho Machefo is a 32 year old entrepreneur and event’s organizer from Khutsong who
is very determined to empower women through her work.

She mentioned that she was born in Khutsong and partly raised in Lesotho and returned to complete high school at Tswasongu Secondary in 2014. Her interest in entrepreneurship was randomly sparked when she decided to sell homemade ice as it was a heated season while she was matriculating. Her passion for business grew in her varsity years when she ventured into the food business as she was an influential person because of being part of the student governance and leadership development (SGLB).

During the era she learned a lot regarding how to manage events because she was exposed to celebrities as they had to invite different popular guests to campus and she also got motivated in life by their stories
regarding they journey’s to success.

Dimpho also managed to motivate a fellow student which paved the way to her interest in pursuing a career in motivational speaking as she realized that she could breathe hope in others after interacting with different students.

The food business put her on the map which began with a food tasting initiative as she believes that she is a creative and the business was a success for 2 years as she realized that there was a gap in the student market.

She also stepped into her spiritual journey as she was ordained into a ministry in 2021 and she also went into leadership during varsity as she was part of a religious group where she continued to expercising her
event organizing skills through arranging conferences.

When she returned home she started selling clothing and she is currently still in business supplying different clothes to her customers.

“My message to young people is that there is more to life than what they are exposed to because we are
actually powerful as youth and we still have a chance to better our lives so its important to find the
right cycles in order to discover ourselves,” she expressed.

Her latest event was titled “Ladies Coffee Meeting With A Twist” which was focused on women empowerment and the session was based on motivating women to accept their identity and purpose, education as well as entrepreneurship where she received support from a women funding organization.

She has an upcoming event which will be taking place on December 12 at Khutsong Faith Mission Church titled ”Youth Inspiration Waves” where there will be engagements on entrepreneurship, money matters, education, book writing and reading as well as business funding and there will also be food, music, poetry and fund building games.

She further added in order to motivate youth that purpose is much important than everything and that time is not their side as well as to maximize on their opportunities and to be solution orientated by putting their efforts.

“I believe that I’m a voice for the generation,” she concluded.
