Sewage still leaking in Fochville

Some of the sewage is leaking into the Loopspruit.

Sewage is leaking constantly in Fochville, despite previous promises from the municipality that the problem would be attended to.

Motorists driving on Danie Theron Street in Fochville have become used to slowing down on the way to the corner of Van der Westhuizen Street. Not only is there a constant stream of sewage that can foul their vehicles, but the sewage has also washed out large potholes in this street. Sewage is not only streaming down the street. Passers-by recently showed the Herald that sewage is also leaking from a manhole in the veld nearby. This sewage leaks toward the Loopspruit.

Sewage has been leaking at this site for so long that one can even see photos of it on Google Street View. At the time that these Google photos were taken in June 2025, a municipal contractor was still working on the main sewer pipeline next to the street.

Although the municipality previously said the sewage leak would stop once this contractor completed their work, sewage is still at the site.

The municipality gave no response on the issue by printing time.
