Man kidnapped from Carletonville supermarket parking lot

They let him go after demanding money.

A man from Carletonville was assaulted in the parking lot of a well-known supermarket in the Carletonville CBD this week.

As far as could be determined, the man (27) was in the parking area of Star Hyper on Osmium Street at about 13:50 on October 9 when three unknown men jumped out of a white Isuzu pick-up.

They pulled out firearms and forced him out of his vehicle.

The men alleged that he was selling drugs and said that they “wanted his boss”.

When the man replied that he did not sell drugs, they tied his hands with cable ties and forced him into their vehicle. While driving off, the men assaulted him and kept asking the same question.

They later parked behind Carletonville police station and demanded money from him. When he said he only had money at home, the men untied him and gave him back his vehicle keys.

They then drove off.

Carletonville detectives, who are investigating cases of kidnapping and assault, determined that the vehicle in which the man was kidnapped belongs to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Council.
