Good successes at N12 roadblock near Fochville
Several undocumented immigrants were also arrested.
Various law enforcement agencies worked together during a large roadblock this week.
The Gauteng Traffic Police, in collaboration with the South African Police Service, Home Affairs, Merafong Traffic, Rand West Traffic, North West Traffic Police, the Gauteng Roads and Transport Department, Gauteng Harmony Security and the National Traffic Police, conducted a multidisciplinary roadblock on the N12 as part of October Transport Month on October 17.
The roadblock was held near Klipdrift at the Gauteng and North West province border on the N12 between Fochville and Potchefstroom.
Eight undocumented foreign nationals were arrested, while one suspect found in possession of copper and equipment suspected to be used for housebreaking was also nabbed.
The operation also resulted in more than 200 AARTO traffic notices to the value of over R207 000 being issued.
According to Arrive Alive, such collaborative operations reinforce law enforcement efforts to promote road safety, ensure compliance with traffic laws and combat criminal activities across Gauteng, especially in preparation of the coming festive season.
