Wedela police inform against crimes

Residents were also motivated to speak out about things that are not right.

Police in Wedela launched a public awareness campaign this week to warn residents about the dangers of domestic violence and kidnapping.

Officers Sergeant Makinta, Constable Mkhonto and Victim Friendly Room team member Caroline Mooketsi visited the Wedela Clinic recently to educate the community on recognising warning signs, understanding risks and taking action to stay safe.

The SAPS aimed to encourage residents to speak out against domestic violence, report suspicious activities and seek help when their safety is threatened.

Mooketsi stressed the importance of vigilance and reporting, while Makinta noted that community co-operation remains essential for preventing crime.

“Community awareness and cooperation remain essential in preventing crime, protecting vulnerable individuals and ensuring that those affected by domestic violence receive the necessary support and assistance,” says Makinta.
