‘No problems with statements,’ claims municipality

The Merafong City Local Municipality could not explain why many residents had still not received their municipal accounts in the post this week.
For several months, a number of residents have been checking their post boxes in vain to see whether their municipal services accounts had arrived. By 15:30 on Monday, 13 July, some had still not received their June accounts.
Following numerous complaints, the Herald asked the municipality why they had not yet been delivered, and whether any contractor is currently being paid to do the job.
“The municipality sent the statements in good time. There was no indication that the Post Office was experiencing delivery problems,” a municipal spokesperson responded on Tuesday.
“If consumers do not receive their statements through the post, the municipality has a platform for customers to view or to download their monthly statement at https://merafong.docview.co.za .
The problem has been taken up with the post office and all consumers should receive their statements through the post for the month of July,” the spokesperson concluded.
