Carrier damaged by stationery overload
The N12 highway was littered with stationery after an overloaded carrier tore open..
JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Motorists on the N12 approaching the Kliprivier off-ramp were confronted by the sight of men transporting boxes of stationery on January 10.
Vehicles travelling at high speed on the highway were forced to slow down and attempt to negotiate their way onto the next lane due to an obstruction by a truck that had its carrier torn apart from a stationery overload.
The torn carrier is said to have been the second headache-inducing incident for the carrier truck’s passengers that day – as the truck had just a couple of miles back broken down without any warning.
This prompted the driver to call for assistance from the company’s tow truck driver.
It is unclear where the stationery truck was headed. The tow truck driver said that the carrier truck had been breaking down on the N12, which is why he had to be called out… “and now this happens.”
National Roads Agency officers responded hours after the Johannesburg Metro Police Department officers attended the scene.
